Eight-foot Coat-of-Arms for Roxbury Latin School
Boston, Massachusetts
This project was modeled in clay and the shield was carved in wood. The model was then cast into resin and polychromed. We could have carved the whole project in wood, probably basswood, but the client chose to cast it into resin. The value to casting in resin is that, almost always, there are no architectual requirements because there is no weight. You can still make the finish results look like bronze or have visual weight with out the pounds. This project was eight-feet wide and six-feet in height. It is grand as the centerpiece in a large hall.
